Who We Are
"Our hearts stay young if we let them." -- Pretty Shield, Absaroke tribe
Janet Young, A Short & Incomplete BiographyI am a molecular biologist by training with a doctorate in genetics from George Washington University. I have been involved with basic laboratory research and science administration for most of my career with private and governmental organizations. My interest in animals led me to explore non-traditional and alternative therapies resulting in extensive training in Reiki, human craniosacral therapy at the Upledger Institute, equine and canine craniosacral therapy with Maureen Rodgers, and in the natural horsemanship techniques of Pat Parelli, John Lyons, and Bill Dorrance and Leslie Desmond. I have studied with Marti Spiegelman in Sebastopol, CA, for four years in extensive shamanic training and initiation in the Andean, Himalayan and West African traditions. As a scientist I have followed the truth, wherever that may be found. As a shaman I embrace the unexpected and the unknown and am committed and honored to pass along what may be of value to my fellow creatures of this world.
